The above-mentioned senior position exists within the Group Corporate Affairs Department and is responsible for providing direct leadership to the department in the achievement of set objectives and targets. The main purpose of the job is to supervise the development and drive the implementation of the CSI and ESD programs.
Job Functions
Oversee the Complaints Department:

  • Oversees internal complaints team.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation pertaining to the business environments the Society is active in.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the Long Term Insurance Ombudsman and the FAIS Ombudsman.

Complaints management:

  • Partake to formulate, implement and maintain the complaints management framework for the group.
  • Ensure that all complaints are processed in a manner that is fair and equitable while protecting the brand and reputation of the group.
  • Report to the General Manager on all complaints received and the outcomes achieved.
  • Provide input and guidance to business on corrective actions to be implemented in order to reduce complaints and increase customer satisfaction.

Human Resources:

  • Manage the departmental team in the achievement of set objectives and targets.
  • Determine the Human Resource requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliverables.
  • Secure the Human Resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets.
  • Track and monitor performance in accordance with policies and procedures and performance planning documentation.
  • Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/ s perform at optimum productively level.
  • Ensure identification of critical skills essential for sustainability of service delivery and the development of succession plains.


  • Provide appropriate information to feed into the annual budget process and identify any and all costs within the area of functional responsibility.
  • Determine financial allocations in accordance with deliverables.

Compile monthly and quarterly reports indicating:

  • The number of complaints received per business unit.
  • The number of complaints finalised per business unit.
  • The number of complaints received and finalised from the respective Ombudsman.
  • All trends identified.
  • The impact of complaints on TCF.


  • Bachelor’s degree


  • Ability to develop strategies based on industry trends and developments.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, especially when working with multiple projects/ teams.
  • Excellent management, negotiation, listening, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Decisiveness and strong problem solving skills, especially under stress.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Experience in budgeting and cost control.
